Introduction
LOSE THE CHOOSE is ‘The Crucible’ written by Arthur Miller. This play is set in the 1692 Salem, Massachusets. The uproar of witchcraft was rife and began dragging many innocent down with it. The main catalyst to the key events in the play was Abigail Williams as she tarnishes John Proctor’s marriage, while he tries to make up for his past betrayal. Proctor is determined to reunite his broken family, rid of the unrequited love with Abigail and clear the false accusations of witchcraft. Paragraph 1 – Beginning (Act 1)

Proctor and Abigail meet and she pleads for another chance by trying to convince Proctor they should be together, however he has become loyal to his wife and makes it clear he wants nothing more to do with Abigail.

“Abby I may think of you softly from time to time but I will cut off my hand before i reach for you again”

“You loved me, John Proctor, and yet whatever sin,it is, you love me yet”

Paragraph 2 – Middle (Act 2 ; 3)

Abigail revenge schemes to win Proctor back are targeted at his wife, Elizabeth. With the use of the cry of witchcraft in the village, she has directed false evidence towards Elizabeth and sent her to court. Proctor now begins to take blame for these events and clear the accusation of the innocent and save his beloved wife from death.

Paragraph 3 – End (Act 4)

Finally, the story concludes as Proctor now has to decide his fate as he is forced to sign a confession, however he decides against the idea and not to lie about witchcraft and tears it up to protect his name.
